Long note titles should wrap in order to fit on the screen

When using a Zettelkasten or similar note-taking method that focuses on atomic notes (i.e. one note should contain one piece of information), the note title essentially should capture a summary of what the note is about. This results into some rather long note titles.

Currently in Amplenote the note title does not wrap to multiple lines, which means that longer note titles cannot be seen in their entirety.

For example, this note title does not fit into the view even on fullscreen mode with a 13" laptop: "When it comes to organisations and management, assume that all problems are generic. The solution is in establishing principles, rules, or policies that help people deal with all occurrences of the same problem."

Bonus request: in the notes list, make it optional to see full note titles. Right now they only have a limited number of characters and you can only see the first few words of a title.

This is an attempt to reopen the "Keep completed tasks for longer than 3 weeks" suggestion: https://amplenote.featureupvote.com/suggestions/161825/keep-completed-tasks-for-longer-than-3-weeks

Just show all tasks completed ever.

This is most annoying when viewing old jots. I do nearly all of my task completion in jots, and yet I can't view what tasks I completed in them unless I do a hack to create a new not based on an old version of the jot. wtf!

I KNOW the data is there, since hidden completed tasks from old jots pollute my search results. Just display it at the bottom of the note. What's the problem here?

Luckily, now that we can default to crossing-out tasks (and still have them be counted as completed), going forward this won't be QUITE as much of a an annoyance, but I still have years of old notes whose completed tasks I can't easily view. EXTREMELY frustrating.

When I have multiple extracts in the same note from multiple dates, I can see all backlinks in my note, however it becomes difficult to pinpoint which extract came on which date. Would be great that there could be a date stamp option toggle for extract to note feature. End state expected: if I am extracting to same note across multiple days, I should be able to see which portion I extracted on what date. This will supercharge my Jots and Extract usage.

Repeatable Tasks That Appear Unscheduled Each Week

Repeatable tasks should have the option to appear unscheduled by default each week. These tasks would regenerate automatically on a set day (e.g. every Sunday) and show up in the task list or inbox without being assigned to a specific date or time.

This allows users to manually schedule them during weekly planning—dragging each task into the days that make sense for that particular week. Once scheduled, the “hide until” logic would apply to that specific instance based on its assigned day or time, without affecting the rest of the repeat chain.

For example, if I want to work out three times per week, I shouldn’t have to lock those workouts into the same days every time. I want them to appear every Sunday as unscheduled tasks, so I can decide when they fit best in that week.

This would make weekly planning more flexible and efficient, especially for recurring routines that happen regularly but not rigidly.

Say i have a main task. And 5 bullet points indented under it. One of the 5 bullet points is a mini task.

Crossing out the main task will cross out all the above. Leading to a block of text that is crossed out. This makes it very difficult to read later. Defeating the purpose of crossing the task in line.

What should happen, only the main task is crossed out. But the children should not be. I can always cross them out separately later if I so wish. This is a much better default then having to undo something undesired.

If task is completed instead of crossing out, the situation is weirder. The main task and child task will be hidden. But the bullet points will remain indented in thin air. A child with no parent.

A better approach would be to leave the bullet points untouched, bullet points are not mini tasks, they are plain text context. Please don't conflate the 2.

Overall we can definitely improve the defaults here.

- If a task is dismissed in the Amplenote calendar, the same task in the external calendar should have a "❌" emoji added in front of it, optionally, it could also have a strikethrough formatting, or change the emoji to "❎".

Problem is, on the mobile app, there is no space on the mobile calendar to: tap and easily select a time and add a new task because the event would overlap and be in the way.

For example:
*Event: Exercise (7 am - 8 am) -- Time Block

Sometimes tasks have not already been created in a note and you want to create it via the calendar and use the time block as a guide

A feature upvote gave us the ability to view PDFs inline... now the issue is that all PDFs in a note try to render simultaneous - the result is not good particularly when multiple large PDFs are present. We simply need better controls here that can manage if, how and where PDFs are rendered:
1. the conditions when PDFs should be rendered in the note: on request, only if on-screen, render in line if < x Mb, render all inline
2. the location where the PDFs are rendered; PDF's should have an option not to open inline but e.g. in bottom tab window (Hidden Complete Backlinks *Attachments*) or in "peek viewer" window on right as options. In summary the default should be a new bottom tab window called "Attachments", Peek Viewer, Inline, New Window.
Please see also https://amplenote.featureupvote.com/suggestions/128011/viewopen-pdfs-inline-within-note-no-separate-download that gave us inline viewing, I will backlink from there to here...

Right now setting the date is an irritating experience if you don't use "typical" (predefined) event dates: early morning, afternoon etc.

Home Assistant for example just shows a calendar, where we can specify the date and time (without additional clicking on both date and time to just type custom value; it's visible by default) *and* has predefined dates on the side. IMHO that's much more user-friendly if you don't use typical event dates - few less clicks every time I need to schedule tasks, it really would improve UX for people like me - extensively using calendar.

In the attachment I've submitted how it looks in Home Assistant, which - in my opinion - is perfectly balanced.

When viewing the Notes section there is no option for viewing Tasks (all tasks) in the peek viewer - we have to compromise by viewing a note where (hopefully) all tasks are located. However, this is possible in the Calendar view, for scheduling tasks. It seems logical to have this feature in the peek viewer for viewing Notes as well. Basically it seems logical to be able to view any combination of Jots/Notes/Tasks/Calendar in the peek viewer, at the same time as having opened any of the Jots/Notes/Tasks/Calendar sections. Is that not the core aspect of the peek viewer? Being able to peek into the most important stuff for a better overview?

Currently, recurring tasks do not work properly with task Dependencies. I was excited for this update, but I haven't been able to use it since I mainly use recurring tasks in my workflow. Task Dependencies should work with recurring tasks.

For instance, I have a task for playing guitar and then in a separate note I have a specific task and notes for my practice routine. These have a recurring schedule, but I would like to set up a goal dependency between them, but if I do it will break once they recur. It will only reference the previous instance and not update for each recurring instance.

Task dependencies should work for all tasks.

Currently, if you undo or uncheck a recurring task it won't restore to the note and instead it will just create the next scheduled task and the task you undo disappears.

This feels unintuitive. If I undo any task it should restore to the note. If it is a recurring task, it should delete/remove the scheduled recurred task and restore the current task to the note. Then when you check it again (dismiss or complete) it schedules the next recurring task as expected.

Basically, regardless of whether the task is recurring it should undo and restore to the note. If you ever accidentally complete a recurring task you have to manually copy the task back to restore it and this can be a hassle that shouldn't be necessary. Recurring tasks should function more intuitively and like regular tasks.

I just had an idea for people who want to learn Amplenote.
(Firstly every link inside the following link could be turned into a video on the Amplenote YouTube channel) anyhow here is my idea:

Learn Amplenote with Tasks!

This plugin idea helps you master Amplenote by turning its help section articles (all current and future) into daily/weekly to-do tasks.

How:

1. Turn Help Section Links into Tasks: The plugin finds links in the Amplenote help section https://www.amplenote.com/help - and creates tasks for each one.
2. Learn at Your Pace: You choose how many tasks to create daily or weekly, making learning manageable.
3. Easy Completion: Simply open the linked article, read it, learn, and mark the to-do task done!

This way, you explore Amplenote features one step at a time, building your knowledge.

Features with examples:
1. Number of to-do tasks: 1
2. Reoccurring: daily
3. Subject: Organize Everything (or set to random)
4. Repetition: all links / subject / when all done once
