Prevent accidentally deleting notes
Move delete option to the "more options" section and preferably the last option to pick, maybe even a slight distance to the next last.
I'm not sure if this too important but I noticed since Amplenote doesn't offer a trash, I thought it would be good to add a sort of barrier to accidentally deleted notes other than the quick undo option.

carolyn_fHaving this morning accidentally deleted a jot which contained my whole day's detailed plans I'm somewhat annoyed that I cannot get it back (I was using the Android Amplenote app). I'm used to Evernote where you have to work quite hard to permenantly delete something and usually have options, such as retrieving the note from the Trash. For those of us prone to 'more haste less speed' finger slippage on mobile screens, a Trash can to which all deleted notes/items go for 48hrs (or whatever) – or a significant level of user 'undos' – would be beneficial. Today's episode has really kinda 'downvoted' Amplenote as a firm replacement for the latest Evernote.

ztI did the same thing today.😂
Before this thread, I found "What does archiving a note do?” in help center: https://www.amplenote.com/help/organizing_notes_archive_note
Maybe to switch the buttons’ places of "delete note" and "archive note" will be much better? "archive note" is hiding in "more options" now, but it seems a better way to throw those old notes away. And this will make users easier to find the archive function. -

bazbt3I'm surprised this hasn't accrued more votes - one accidental deletion of a central-ish active 'node' note and the whole thing falls apart.
In the short term can we please have the Undo popup persist for a few seconds longer? It will help a lot. -

Isaiah MergedI don't know why there is not already a feature. Common amongst most online note systems. This is a massive short coming of AN. Dangerous to not have this feature when there is a valuable long doc that constantly is edited so you can't lock the note. Please fix!

IsaiahI would argue the more important item is that the AN team needs to implement a Trash folder in order to recover deleted notes! I put in a request here for this --> https://amplenote.featureupvote.com/suggestions/225649/trash-folder

Lucian Admin"Trash folder" (suggested by Isaiah on 2021-10-19), including upvotes (1) and comments (0), was merged into this suggestion.

TejasThis seems like an essential feature and I'm sad to see it so low on the priorities list. Without it, there is no way I can pay for the product as for me it's a totally essential feature. In my opinion all the suggestions in the comments need to be implemented.
1) implement a trash bin with a user controlled empty schedule
2) Move delete to the end of the other options and move archive forward so that it is more prominent
3) Increase the undo time period for deleting messages -

AprilI like speedily editing and deleting without ‘are you sure’ messages at the first level. The completed section works well for jots. When I can’t find something, due to finger slippage, it’s usually in ‘completed’.
But accidentally deleting a note with only the undo feature to fix it is risky. A feature like 48hrs or 15 days before permanent deletion and/or the ability to Backup select or all notes would be reassuring. -

Jack ElliottHaving accidentally deleted a note made me realise how badly we need this feature implemented. We need trash :)

Lucian AdminHey Jack, note that your notes are found at separate web addresses, so you can use your browser's history to find a note's URL, access it, then click on "Restore note".

Jack ElliottHello Lucian,
Thank you for the answer. While it's good to know, does it mean that Amplenote actually doesn't remove from its servers when I delete a note? -

Lucian AdminNotes are marked for deletion and if not restored, they are deleted permanently in 30 days.
