To have a second note screen
One note screen to explore and one note screen to collect notes to create a page with unique relations to this project. (sreenshot is coming from Roam Research) In the sample below at the right I have a "metadata collection" from where I can easy copy/paste section(s) to projects encouraging consitency in the way of working.

EsteThis feature would be an enormous asset. Expandable sidebars are brilliant for metadata, formatting for entries that use a fixed format, remembering keyboard commands and markup, and swiftly accessing a list of bookmarks.

Anna MergedBeing able to split the screen and see two notes next to each other is critical for me. Roam does it side-by-side, Scrivener splits the screen horizontally, but this is an incredibly helpful feature.

Bill AdminWhile we certainly intend to get to this during 2021, in the meantime a couple hotkeys are useful:
* Ctrl-Space enters the note at the cursor. Very useful when combined with creating a new note via double bracket, or the double bracket hotkey ("Ctrl and [")
* On macOS "Cmd and <" or on PC, "Ctrl and <" returns to the previous note
Those make it fast to traverse hierarchies of notes, or two work concurrently on two notes.
A couple other options to keep in mind:
* Rich Footnotes. Annotate any phrase in a note with a combination of: text, link, picture, video, tweet, youtube video, or Google Sheet. In those cases you don't even need to create a second note, just edit without leaving your main note
* Quick Open. Default sort order matches the sort order you have selected in your notes list. I tend to use "Last opened," which means that invoking Quick Open gives me a sorted list of recently opened notes. Cursor position is retained when jumping between notes with Quick Open. -

BillAnother idea between now and when we launch this: using an app like Magnet (macOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/magnet/id441258766?mt=12) to snap windows into place. You can open Amplenote in as many browser windows as you want and Magnet can snap those into a desired configuration on your desktop.

KarlThis would be very useful as I use this app to manage all areas of my life. As I would be able to open documents such as old minutes and make notes as I read through them.

GadwoodMaybe just a icon to open your note in a single pop up like email softwares.

GadwoodI think I would prefer a button (ex:detach) to open a chrome pop up window that I can place where I want and split my screen in my needs. Like double clicking an email in outlook from the inbox list.

Marshall WallsI agree. I have been Ctrl+ Clicking a new section so that it will open in a new window. This is not ideal.

Stuart MergedI think there's a final step in the funnel which would be useful: once I've planned my tasks in my calendar in the calendar view, for the rest of the day I'm back in my jots and notes views.
But I'd still like to see what I planned across the calendar domains to stay on track with my daily plan. Instead of being 'out of sight, out of mind' back in the calendar view, it would be great to have a consolidated view of today's calendar as a right-side panel that's sticky across the jots/notes/tasks view.
Tasks could even be dragged onto the calendar from the calendar view! -

Lucian Admin@Stuart I merged your request here. Supporting multiple views in the second note screen is part of our long-term plans for this feature.

Ian greigI use this and rely on it in Scrivener and Obsidian. I use it for writing from outline (screen 1) to text (window 2);
and editing from 1 to 2
re-purposing

Jack ElliottWhile I believe this feature is useful, there is a nice looking workaround until it is implemented.
I use Amplenote as a PWA on Microsoft Edge / macOS. Once you launch the Amplenote PWA, you can press Cmd + N and it opens another Amplenote window. Using your favourite Window Management tool, it is possible to lay two windows side-by-side.
