Allow customizable date format for daily jots
For example:
- 2020-10-09
- september 4 ,1990
More here : https://momentjs.com/docs/#/displaying/format/
It be more simple to reference (for daily jots) to custom date syntax and not to 29th, 31st like it is now...(especially for foreign users).

Nick C MergedThe options for sorting daily jots are helpful for when they're created or when they were last edited. However, because of the naming scheme, there's no way to sort them by date of title - alphabetically doesn't work for this.
For example, as I've been importing a bunch of lessons, sermons, lectures etc, I've been adding the date that I presented them (sometimes years ago) and adding the daily jots tag. But when I sort, they only come up on the day that I created the note.
As a simple stopgap, I would suggest that if the daily jots automatically began with the 8 digit date format (20171225 for Christmas Day 2017, for example) then we could sort alphabetically to get this functionality. Moving forward, maybe putting the 8 digit date as an invisible tag would allow sorting by the same method? -

MK Mergedthe name of daily-jots is focused on American/ English users; the global ISO format for dates is YYYY-MM-DD; there should be a customization option to switch to the ISO format

MikeIn addition to ISO format, I would like the flexibility of adding the day of the week to the title of the Daily Jots. This helps me when looking back over previous daily-jots so I know what day of the week something happened. e.g. "YYYY-MM-DD ddd" for today would be "2022-01-11 Tue"
The day of the week is important to me, mostly so I know if something happened mid-week or on the weekend. -

John Smith MergedISO dates (YYYY-MM-DD) have a lot of good properties, like being able to search for incrementally narrower chunks of time and being ordered properly. There should be an option to format jot titles as ISO dates.

Wime8 MergedDates are formatted MONTH day, year
Numbers have a . [period] as a decimal separator.
It would be nice to switch them to local formats, for example "day.month.year" for date, and a comma separator for numbers (i.e. 476,50) -

Curtis LongIt would be a positive move for Amplenote to recognize that a user's "normal" and comfortable date format is regional and very personal.
- As MK suggested, the current format serves US English-speakers only (https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/dec/16/why-do-americans-write-the-month-before-the-day).
- As the OP points out, this format eliminates the ability to sort by title, which is kind of a big deal for hard-core note-takers. For example, a YYYYMMDD or YYYY-MM-DD format is fundamental for Zettelkasten numbering system users (and YYYYMMDDHHHH is possibly even more fundamental).
- Just FYI, Obsidian by default creates a new empty Daily note in the YYYY-MM-DD format, but that format is completely user-editable, using the Moment.js format reference. (However, Moment.js recommends using these more modern alternatives: https://momentjs.com/docs/#/-project-status/recommendations/)
It's encouraging to see that this is feature request is under consideration! -

AlicsonIs it possible yet to customize the date format? @2023-06-09 Seems rather essential in a journal-related productivity app?

John Smith MergedOne idea for this would also be to allow jots to be automatically assigned to a years-and-months tag structure, like:
#2023
#2023/01
#2023/02
etc. -

John SmithISO dates are love, ISO dates are life. Give me ISO dates or give me death :P
It'd also allow making easy autotagging for jots so they get bucketed into eg.
#2023/01
#2023/02
#2023/03
and so on. -

Nigel Rees MergedPlease change Jot's default date's format (example for today)
from 'January 24th, 2024'
to '2024-01-24, Wednesday' ... or '2024-01-24, Wed'
Others, too, have requested ISO sequence for dates.
Why? Often tasks are dependent upon Day-of-the-week so it's good to be able to see it without checking with the calendar. One could filter by it, too, seeing, e.g., all 'Wed' activities. -

Greg MergedTwo reasons why this is important:
- For Amplenote, ISO date format is a key step in enabling language localization to increase adoption beyond English speakers.
- For users, ISO dates better allow forward-referencing notes. I could create a link to a future daily jot with less friction (1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th; comma/space, letters vs. number pad; etc.) -

Nigel Rees MergedI swear I've requested this many times. Only the US (I think) does 07/15/2024 or 07/15/24. ISO's yyyy-mm-dd, so 2024-07-15 is clear, sequences chronologically, and is immediately understandable.

KrishnaI am not sure if you can bring this into automatically generated Daily - daily-jots.
You can try some work around which I use.
1. Using the below mentioned plugin, have it added to the first line of your note. Reference Image: "https://images.amplenote.com/c69bcf04-6c0d-11ef-92dc-22d98565c2c0/17fa8de7-2fd9-42cd-86a9-e3cfa10fcca1.png"
2. Same plugin, other way you can use is to use "@{}" and calling the plugin with your date structure set up in the Plugin Settings.
How to do Link: https://www.amplenote.com/help/jots#____Creating_future_daily_Jots
Note: You might want to replace tomorrow or day using the plugin name. And this can only generate today's Jot in your requested format.
