Ability to pin notes in the notes list
There should be an ability to pin notes to the top of a notes list (not as shortcuts to the sidebar).
This avoids visual clogging on the sidebar, and lets you can have separate pinned notes in every project tag.
This kind of view would give the user useful structure when they are in the project but is blissfully out of the way when they are not.
If you look at the Carl Pullein screenshot attached, you don't really want to see your house moving project if you're researching a video, for example, but while you are planning the house move and decoration, having those main notes anchored with a bunch of reference below seems amazingly useful and really simple to use.
Also, it's a small thing, but the layout Apple's using is good. You open the project folder and the notes, pinned and not, are visually part of the project thing. If you'd pin notes into shortcuts, they're not really part of the project note list visually.

tinkeruexpanding on the concept, when we need pins or bookmarks, we need it for different reasons. eg. reference, todo, waiting. Ideally, we should have multiple kinds of pins for different states eg. todo, waiting, done. (or any custom category)

These pins, can be implemented as tags. The difference is "pins" additionally offers one click filtering of the note list. This makes the notelist a lot more useful, else most of the time the notelist is clutterred with just too many notes. It's too slow to use saved searches to do this filtering.
I believe we can use shift click in Amplenote now to select multiple tags to achive this. eg. select work tag and waiting tag. Perhaps this is good enough.
As for the OP's pin feature, we can have a "pin" tag applied to the note, and similarly use shift click to select the "work" tag and the "pin" tag. But it's difficult to beat a single click of the pin button.
