Include title in fulltext search (or exact search)
tl;dr: include exact match and title in search bar results
The more notes I create, the more I've felt the friction of lacking a one-stop search that covers all the bases at once and sorts results by how good the match is.
I would prefer if it searched for both title as well as exact text and prioritized by:
1. -exact-/ordered -title- match,
2. followed by -fuzzy- title matches,
3. followed by -exact- fulltext search (or, if it at least allowed exact search),
4. followed by the fuzzy search it does rn, or a modified one that searches as if the title were copied into the note body
Sometimes I'm searching for a title, but it turns out the note is super old so it shows up at the bottom of the results, or doesn't have the words in the title in the note body itself, so it doesn't work.
Even if I used ctrl+O, I like having fulltext search as well, since I rarely correctly guess words from titles even if I toss a keyword salad into them when I make the note. Plus, note titles evolve.

The fuzzy search on the web is a constant source of frustration. It returns too many irrelevant results, making accurate information hard to find. I hope this issue is addressed soon. The original poster's proposed solution is a step in the right direction. -

Len RaymondI would like to save a title search. For example, I put "-design" in a note title for notes where I am brainstorming on the design of a project. I want a saved search where only these design notes show up and nothing else.

TinkerExcluding note content from note search results
If you want to search for notes based solely on their titles, and not match your search query against note contents, use this toggle:
https://www.amplenote.com/help/all_about_search_lookup_filtering#Excluding_note_content_from_note_search_results
I found this neat hidden feature, that might satisfy you.
It seems that amplenote CAN search for titles in the main searchbar, but you have to uncheck a checkbox in the dropdown.
Still, the OP is asking for a single search list, with title matches prioritised. But this is a pretty good workaround in the meantime.
I've used this to search for "untitled notes", I'm using that as an inbox catch all since I don't use daily jots. You can even save the search query on the sidebar.
