Streamlined Sidebar Enhancements
I think the sidebar could be streamlined. Currently, several main categories (“Tags,” “Notes,” and “Tasks”) are linked to sidebar items called “Tags” and “Shortcut.” When a main category is chosen, the “Tags” and “Shortcut” sections change. I suggest nesting “Tags” and “Shortcut” under each main category (see picture 1) so their relationship is clearer. It would also help to let users collapse or expand these sections (see picture 2), and have the UI remember their visibility state for each category. Another idea is to automatically collapse “Tags” and “Shortcut” for categories that aren’t selected, similar to “code folding” in VS Code (see picture 3). For example, if “Notes” is chosen, the sections for “Tasks” remain hidden until “Tasks” is selected. These tweaks would free up space on the sidebar, allowing the main category labels to be enlarged for better visibility (see picture 4, sorry for potato quality).
